Chaos Spehs Mahreenz!

Today feels like Christmas again as i received my order from Wayland Games. I find Wayland really reliable and superb with their communications. And i got a free Mantic Journal as well!

Will have to get them all assembled before i bring em' home ;)

Theres gonna be an insane amount of plastic to put together and undercoat. But then again Chaos says that Sanity is for the Weak! LOL!

*********************************************************
And this just in.....

The Enhanced

I'll be doing up a Chaos Space Marines list based on Fabius Bile's Enhanced Warriors.

I couldn't wait and did up a test figure from the Chaos Battleforce. I attached some beads on the backpack of the CSM to simulate the drugs/enhancements and ran the tubes down to the head of the marine.

Some WIP work:

Front view.

Side view.

Other side view. I learnt to complete the enhancements before gluing the sword arm in as it does get in the way abit.

Rear view. I'll be trimming down the size of the tubes to make it lower. Don't want them swinging their swords and crackin' open their drug packs hehe!

I'm just not sure what color scheme to give them. I originally wanted to use the scheme from The Purge. But in the CSM codex, Fabius seems to be wearing a deep red armor, which is not very Emperor's Children.

Ah well, back to work now...

Heroes of the Black Templar:

Brother Beltan

Brother Beltan seen here before his grievous wounding at Armageddon. His body was shattered but not his mind. Beltan was interred into the shell of the Dreadnought and continues to fight on in the name of the Emperor.

Brother Beltan in all his armored glory.

Other view of Missile Launcher configuration.

Rear view.

Another view of Beltan. His adamantium shell adorned with Templar iconography and script-text. The right side of his hull emblazoned with the Shield of Armageddon.

Blood Angels Dreadnought

The Thirst that Endures...

Just finished up a Space Marine Dreadnought for one of the guys at my local GW. I had always wanted to paint up the sweet red colors of the Blood Angels. My Sanguinary Guards did not allow me to paint as much red as I would have wanted haha!

Presenting...

Brother Ramiel of the Blood Angels. Newly incarcerated into the adamantium sarcophagus of the Dreadnought.

Side view of Ramiel, armed with the deadly Multi-melta.

Rear view. Ramiel wonders why his smoke stacks are so short. I'm guessing this is the Dreadnought from the Black Reach set.

Side view of Dreadnought CCW.

I had fun with the transfer sheet that I seldom use. Ramiel is ready for his City Fight mission next Friday for Games Night :)

Have a fantastic week ahead everyone!

More Gold!

The Necrons have landed!

Lol! Thats not too accurate actually ;P

I happened across this amazing sculpture yesterday on my walk in the City of Brisbane. Its located just below Jacob's Ladder at King Edward Park. I'm not sure who created the sculpture, but its evocative and reminds me of something grand yet alien.

Also looks a lot like a Necron Monolith! Nice!!

I stood a bit further to take this next pic. I think part of me was expecting a greenish portal to open up anytime and metal skeletons stepping through them...I don't want to be gauss flayed heehee! But nothing happened, and i quickly moved on. There were other pieces of sculpture of the same sheen and materiel as well, but this was the one that caught my eye.

Blightpox Cabal: Morgurt

Also finished my first member of the Blightpox Cabal.

This here be Morgurt, a devoted of Nurgle and one of the bodyguards of Lord Typhus.

Morgurt here flexing the muscles of his 'arm'.

Rear view.

Morgurt taking aim and about to fire his weapon.

The Chaos Terminator models are really nice to paint. A refreshing change from their Loyalist brethren. Morgurt is my test model here. I think i'll be using roughly the same techniques to paint up his squad mates.

Thats all my updates for now ;)

More Gold Bars...

Not The Divine Comedy ;)

I got a tad sidetracked from my Nurgle Termis. A fellow gamer from the local GW has requested me to paint up Commander Dante of the Blood Angels for his HQ. So he bought the model and I painted it up. So here he is, and most of the major colors are already done!

I really enjoyed painting Dante again, and found that I finished the job in under 3.5 hours :) My first gold bar...er..Dante...first one took me a few days. I employed quite a few shortcuts this time to quicken the process.

Did some basing too.

View from the back. Did some different highlights on the jump pack this time. I think the pack on this Dante looks better than my previous one.

For the Emperor!

Okie doke, time for me to get back to the Blightpox Cabal ;))

Have a great week ahead everyone!

WIP: Nurgle Terminators

The Blightpox Cabal

Just assembled my first Nurgle Terminators. There are six of the putrid pals here. Started some greenstuff work mainly to give them the famous Nurgle bellies :) Not sure if i want to put more greenstuff on them, don't want to overdo it. I did miss the really nice details now covered up by the nurgly bellies haha!

I then used the skull motif shouderpads for the Termis, to represent their Death Guard background. Also gave them the cool mutated arms. They can represent power weapons as well. I did pin the arms, but may consider gluing them.....its just that they just have so many options they can take!

For now i'll be arming them with 1 Heavy Flamer, 1 Chainfist, 1 Power fist and 3 Power weapons. The rest will be toting combi-meltas. I would use them to accompany Typhus when he deepstrikes into the heat of battle. Or I could seperate them into double suicide Termis squads. 3 each and armed with combi-meltas.

And speaking of combi-meltaz...

They only give one combi-melta in the Chaos Termi box. I had to improvise to make more. I found the extra plastic nub on the Termi bases to be ideal for conversion. Attached one to the flamer and found it passable ;)

Typhus the Traveller, Herald of Nurgle

I came across a miniature of Typhus and he looked like a real challenge to paint. Ordered him from Wayland Games and had to wait just a tad longer as he's GW Direct Order. I had always wanted to try and paint a bit of Nurgle, and wanted to do a test model. Probably should have used a normal Plague Marine to try out first haha....

I present to you, he who was once known as Calas Typhon, First Captain of the Death Guard and Commander of the ship Terminus Est....now known as....

Typhus, Host of the Destroyer Hive
I took the pic in the kitchen area, my other hand using the flashlight from my mobile for more light lol! It was again a rainy gloomy day over here. Not much light for the past 3 days...

I like the little guy sitting on his knee pad, its kinda cute. I have not done the base yet, but he's almost done :)

Back view of the Mouldy Man. I don't think he took a bath since the Horus Heresy.

I started to paint Manreaper, the power-scythe. Added some buboes on the blade. Also did some purplish wash and veining on the Destroyer Hive.

And last but not least, an action/heroic pose:

I am liking the ominous shadow in the background hehe!

Much to Read

I have read lots of books recently. And re-lived some really warm childhood memories. I read Michael Ende's Neverending Story and imagined what it was like to fly on a dragon. Watched Flight of the Dragons cartoon and that was really special too :)

Also finished Rynn's World recently. It was a great read. I'm inspired to do up a small Crimson Fists army. But i'm resisting the temptation...for now. Also journeyed to the old world via Garth Nix's Sabriel. And i just went from Colorado to Eredane in Mark Anthony's Beyond the Pale.

I was re-inspired for believing in the goodness in people by reading David Edding's The Belgariad. All in all an enjoyable month :)

And this is my 100th post! Woohoo!!

Have a great week ahead everyone! And good health to one and all!

Tomb Queen Tahira

Much gaming over the last weekend, very little painting done. Incidentally, i received my Direct Order miniature of Tomb Queen Khalida Neferher. She is a really beautiful mini and i had planned to use her for my standard Necron Lord on foot. I couldn't use the counts as one from Warmachine Cryx in GW haha!

Some fluff/backstory....

Thoughts of the Deceiver

"Aegyptos...an ancient name...a forgotten place... The Necrontyr and their C'Tan masters conquered and laid waste to countless civilizations in their War with the Old Ones. Aegyptos was just one of the many worlds whose populace swore to serve the C'Tan, for to them, Mephet'ran was the prophecy of their god descended from the heavens.

To those in Aegytos none were perhaps seen as more favored by Mephet'ran than the Princess Tahira. She was the first of her race to embrace the gift of eternal life granted by the star god. Tahira had led the forces of Mephetran into battle across the stars, subjugating and destroying in his name.

Mephet'ran still remembers Tahira with some...emotion. Fondness was not quite the right word. Amusement perhaps...

Yes....he would raise the Tomb Queen once more. The are Young Races still yet to have brought to heel.
"

I have named her Tahira and painted her in the gold colors of Mephet'ran. Hints of her metallic Necron body can be seen peeking through some of her bandages.

Her cloak and dress were done to reflect the passage of time.

A close up of the golden scarab i sculpted onto the base.

Am real looking forward to using her in my wargames soon! Will be probably giving her the Solar Pulse and Veil of Darkness wargear to represent her powers over day and night ;)

Weekend Warriors!

More 40K Battles...

I had a couple of games last weekend. Four to be exact! :)))

Am probably not going to be doing battle reports as its all a blur and i can't remember most details anymore lol!

I tweaked my Necron List to learn using the Necron Lord and try out its variety of wargear. The points cap was again at 1000 points.

My List was:
1x Necron Lord
with Destroyer Body
Resurrection Orb
Warscythe

10 Necron Warriors
10 Necron Warriors

4 Destroyers
4 Destroyers

1 Tomb Spyder

Total: 995 points

I had 2 games vs Tyranids. My first game was a loss and the second one a win. Having experienced the power of outflanking genestealers in my first game, I learnt from my lesson ;)

For the first Tyranid game, my opponent list was something like this:

Hive Tyrant
with Venom Cannon, Scything Talons
Psychic Scream power

8 Genestealers with Broodlord

10 Gaunts

10 Gants

6 Ripper Swarms

1 Zoanthrope

1 Carnifex with
2x Scything Talons
Acid spitting thingy

1 Carnifex with
Scything Talons
Barbed Strangler

Summary: The mission included 2 objectives. The Nid player went first. I was doing ok until the Genestealers popped up. My Necron Lord was also not a match for the combined might of 2 Carnifexes. LOL! His units got to my lines real fast, i didn't know the Genestealers could Move, Run and Assault via Fleet.

For the second game, my other opponent's list was:

Tyranid Prime
Boneswords and Talons

Tyranid Prime
Boneswords and Deathspitter

9 Genestealers and a Broodlord

8 Genestealers and a Broodlord

Doom of Malantai

Carnifex with 2 sets of Scything Talons
Also had the acid spitting ability.

Summary: Both his Genestealers were outflanking as i've come to expect. I deployed in the middle and reserved one unit of Necron Warriors as i wanted to maximize my army's distance from the flanks. I shot at the Doom lots and the Primes, killing both. The Genestealers came in on turns 2 and 3, but they could not charge me. I managed to shoot almost everything to bits except the Carnifex which had 1 wound left when game ended. The Necron Lord sacrificed himself again and went down in close combat with the Carnifex.

Necrons VS Tau

I also had my first ever game vs Tau. It was a loss. I think i know what to do the next time i face them again.

My opponent's list was:

Battlesuit leader with Railguns and other stuff.

3 Suits with 2 Drones ( i think their names sounded like shasi or shasui)
Lots of plasma weaponary here

12 Fire Warriors and an Etheral guy.

12 Fire Warriors with Markerlight gear

A skimmer tank with Railgun

I'm not sure of the total Tau points cost and upgrades as i'm really not familiar with Tau.

It was a kill points game and i lost 3-2. My first target would be the Railgun thingy next time :) I only shot at it in turn 3 but managed to glance in lots till its Railgun was destroyed and it was immobilised. But it was too late haha! The Crisis Suits unit only lost 2 drones and took 1 wound from Destroyers shooting.

My Necron Lord also failed to hit anything for 2 rounds of combat with the 3 Crisis Suits, he lost combat to Tau and died when he failed WBB. LOLZ!! I rolled 3 consecutive ones 3 times for the first combat phase. The Necron Lord managed to wound the suits 4 times in total. But there were still 2 suits standing when he died. It was hilarious!

Tau took down one Destroyers unit, Tomb Spyder and the Necron Lord. I took only took out his Etheral, 1 unit of Fire Warriors. His other unit of Fire Warriors had only 3 guys left. Should have taken them out instead of trying to avenge the Necron Lord.

I'm impressed with the Crisis Suits. They sure are great units!

i think the ability to take good guns, Gun Drones, having 3 wounds each and 3 attacks base to be absolutely ace :) A must take unit i think for any Tau commander!

I'll be testing out the Destroyer Lord some more and will also give the foot Necron Lord a go soon. I'm painting up the Queen Khalida miniature from the Tomb King's range to represent my Necron Lord on foot.

Fantasy Battle

Also had a fantasy battle against Vampire Counts at 1000 points.

Opponent i think brought:

Vampire
Flayed Hauberk
Sword of Battle

a Unit of Ghouls
a Unit of Grave Guard
a Unit of Skellies

The Black Coach

Edit: Opponent also took a Corpse Cart.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------

My Bretonnian List:

Bretonnian 1000pts

1x Paladin 116pts
Barded Bret Warhorse, Wyrmlance, Shield
Virtue of Noble Disdain

1x Damsel of the Lady 125pts
Bret Warhorse
1x Dispel Scroll
Chalice of Malfleur

9x Knights Errant 221pts
Full Command
Errantry Banner

8x Knights of the Realm 226pts
Full Command
Banner of Chalons

8x Knights of the Realm 216pts
Full Command

15 Peasant Bowmen 95pts
Musician

Total: 999pts

It was my first game of Fantasy since the new 8th edition rules. I used my Bretonnians and secured a win. The deciding round was when opponent failed charge and on my next turn, i managed to charge two lances of Knights into his Grave Guard with the Vampire. His Vampire turned to dust and his army crumbled in the ensuing turns.

The magic phase was interesting. I took Lore of Life and stuck to the signature spell. I could not cast much as the Black Coach kept absorbing 6's i rolled. The Black Coach did get up to its FULL power being ethereal and all, but was bogged down in combat by my Knights Errant. They were locked in combat for like 4 turns.

Also went with the wife to her colleagues BBQ dinner last evening and had a great time :) The steaks were really delicious!!

It was a tiring but fulfilling weekend.

Have a great start to the week everyone!

:)
