Calamity Jane (counts as Sly Marbo)
I was inspired by this miniature from Reaper's Chronoscope series. She is originally named Peaches Biker girl and sculpted by Patrick Keith.
I'm going to do a conversion for her to be my counts as Sly Marbo for my traitor Catachan army led by one of the Fallen Dark Angels :)
I did my best to make sure all the wargear for Marbo are represented on the mini.
Thus Calamity Jane was born..
Front view of WIP mini. The Demo charge is pinned on one side and is removable. This gives the option of reminding me the demo charge has been utilized. However, she'll probably not survive the suicide charge LOL!
Side view. The tree stump was taken from the Bretonnian peasant box bitz, and the demo charge part of an Eldar heavy weapon energy cell.
Back view. The second part of the demo charge was combined with a Black Templar bitz.
Going to do the undercoat now. Will post more pics of her once there is some progress ;)

More Goodies
Met up with Ed of Simply Miniatures today to collect my haul of purchases :)
Shown above are 2 boxes of Fantasy Minotaurs, Beastman codex, the new River Trolls, Ravenwing Battleforce and Necron Battleforce. The little blisters are Guardsman backpacks from Maxmini.
I was very impressed by the new plastic sculpts of the minotaur and river troll sculpts. So much detail and animation in those figurines haha!
The Ravenwing and Necron sets are to complete my Ravenwing and Necrons armies respectively. I think the Ravenwing box is really value for money as it contains lots of fluffy bits to personalize the hunters of the Fallen.
The backpacks from Maxmini are also finely detailed and would look great on any guardsman or his vehicle :)
Have a great week all!

Revisiting a Legend
Logan Grimnar (counts as Krom Dragongaze)
I did a repaint of an old paint job for a friend. The miniature is Logan Grimnar, Chapter Master of the Space Wolves from Games Workshop.
It was a lot of fun painting him again. The basing is done by Krom (Defu). Krom is also the namesake of his Wolf Lord leading his battle pack. His blog can be found here.

Back view.
And last but not least, The Axe Morkai or its equivalent :)
Hope he will see many more battlefields and victories for the glory of Russ!

Angel of Iyanden
Iyanna Arienal
I received my Light Elf Mage from Avatars of War. Attempted to convert her to represent Iyanna Arienal or the Angel of Iyanden as she is known. I tried to get her as close to the original art as possible, haha!
Probably use her as my Farseer. Fluff being that she graduated from Warlock status ;)
I was inspired by the original artwork of Iyanna Arienal by the very talented April Lee.

Valkyrie
Space Wolf Valkyrie (Miniature complete)
The SW Valkyrie is mostly done, except for basing which i have never done before. I probably couldn't base to save my life lol!
Side view.

Front view.
I really enjoyed painting her, especially so because its for a friend (Krom). I painted her eyes with the glowy effect to hint at a supernatural presence.
Hope she does as well as his other Lone Wolfs on the field, God Mode man ;)
Fluff wise i know its not canon to have female space marines. But the Valkyrie can be 'counted as' a psychic or mysterious manifestation just like the Blood Angels Sanguinor. So technically she may not be alive in a sense but a part of the mythos of the Space Wolf viking-like roots, kinda like an avenging angel from Valhalla for all the men of Fenris lost to righteous battle ;P
I will leave you all with this rather inspiring Viking prayer from the excellent movie: 13th Warrior:
"Lo there do I see my father.
Lo there do I see my mother and my brothers and my sisters.
Lo there do I see the line of my people, back to the beginning.
Lo they do call to me
they bid me take my place among them in the Halls of Valhalla,
where the brave may live
forever."

I miss my Bitz box
Its great to be back! I am surrounded by my room of miniatures again lol! I miss my bitz box the most. Really feel handicap converting my purchases without these little bits of plastic cosmetics haha :)
I was finally able to put some wolfy touches on the SW Valkyrie (counts as Lone Wolf) for my friend Krom.
Added a knife from the old SW Sprue.
Greenstuffed some fur, and added wolf pelt and wolf tails, also from old SW Grey Hunters sprue.
Just wondering if she needs a Space Marine backpack. It will looked slightly oversized when i tried it, but not too much.

Angels Will Rise..
I have recently completed another 10 Sanguinary Guard for my Blood Angels army via A Tale of 6 Gamers event organized by Ray (enrgie). I have also posted pics on Anything But Ones blog :)
This has brought my force to 1000 points.
I took a pic of the army thus far. Dante as usual wants to be in front haha!
Front
Alternate view.
Top down view.
I had played a few games with the army prior to its painted completion. Its a tough fight most of the time and losses were there. After three games, the results were 2 draws and 1 loss.
Still i enjoyed the style of the army and often deep strike even though it may not have been too tactical haha! I keep getting caught up in the moment of envisioning them descending like golden meteors from the skies :)
Where Faith abides, the Light will quicken.
And when Darkness falls,
Angels Will Rise ....

Wargames history- Skanwy edition
Hi all,
Thought i would give a spiel on my memory of wargaming :) My recollection is hazy at times, the fog of war has not yet lifted in its entirety ;P
I first had contact with the 40k universe through the PC version of the Space Hulk game. I played it endlessly even though i only made it through 3 missions. The intro scene with the Deathwing in their white Terminator armor was just unforgettable. And the amazing weapons like the thunder hammer which could also self destruct haha!
I had no idea that this was part of a larger universe of Warhammer. If i recall correctly, i rediscovered it again in Perth Australia when i went there for studies. A friend introduced it to me. I bought the IG Codex and later Codex Catachans.
Just a few months in, i was introduced to the Space Marines and saw the familiar figure of a Terminator in the codex. I was really happy as i had rediscovered the origins of these heroes from so many years ago.
I started my Deathwing collection and they have always had a special place in my heart :)
When i discovered Warhammer, i was still playing Magic the Gathering (MTG). But i sold the entire collection to a shop in Perth for quite a nice sum of money as used it to start my new journey into the world of miniatures!
I think i met Ray first in PI or some other place with gaming tables, haha, can't remember. I joined him for games at his place at Chinese Garden..i think. Later location changed to Lakeside. I met up with YC (crazyrat) and other great gamers :)) I think we were called Warpod 40K, and Ray was our fearless leader :) That name brings back such fond memories.
I later joined gaming at YC's place and met Daniel and Defeng (Jaeroler). Had a fantastic time gaming guys! Stuff of legend! I got into Warhammer Fantasy with a lot of guidance and patience from the guys there, and in turn found more minis to collect from GW's fantasy range haha!
I met Defu (Krom) at a tournament organised by Ed. It was my first and i think also Defu's first tourney. We were there to join in the festivities and excitement haha! We also had a good talk about lots of stuff and now game together at YC's place :)
Through time i have expanded my Iyanden Eldar collection and am also jumping on the Blood Angels bandwagon. Will not be going too deep into BA, and just made up a low budget BA army consisting of Sanguinary Guards ;)
I think i'm still more of a painter and modeler. The gaming aspect is an experiential one, but i'm proud to say my experience was an amazing one, only made possible by the awesome bunch of dudes i game with. Can't wait to come back for more battles man! :)
See you guys soon!
