WIP: Gabriel, Master of the Deathwing

I had this metal Deathwing Captain for a while. In fact he's always my Master of the Deathwing when I play my Dark Angels Deathwing army. To me the Master of the Deathwing has always been Gabriel aka Broken Knife. Although he always had a tendency to be greviously wounded in the Turn 2 of most games, he is still a mini that brings back fond memories.

I decided to repaint the whole mini again. Its been challenging as he was also caked with paint and a bad conversion job on the top of his armor. I sculpted in a skeleton on the back to cover up the badly mauled banner section ;)

There are still a bit of highlights I have to do with the sword, robe and armor. But he's mostly done.
I do like the new Storm Bolter rules for the current MoD Belial as he can precision shot on a roll of 5 or 6.
The adding of Fleshbane rule to the Sword of Silence also improved its ability to damage high toughness creatures.
This is the back of the mini. I sculpted on the body and arms of the skeleton resting atop Gabriel's Terminator Armor. This is also to contrast the symbol of the sun or bright halo he has in front. So kinda like a Day and Night representation of his relentless pursuit of the Fallen Angels.

Patlabor Tau Project
I haven't got the Riptides yet. Still awaiting their grand arrival lol!

But I have some minis already in assembly for the moment.
Above are the excellent soldier minis from em4 Miniatures. They will be painted as the Patlabor police personnel in orange, blue and some white. Eldar Guardian there for scale.
And the pic above are the heads from the Gundam range that I will be using for the Riptide conversion ;)

I hope everyone has had a great weekend so far. I've been slowly getting back into painting. And it does feel good :)

Have a great week ahead everyone!

Still Gaming!

Its been a while since my last post. I blame real life and work once again. But i did manage to slip in some themed army ideas and miniature assembly whenever i could. Just not been painting much as i require a more relaxed state of mind haha!

I did come up with some fun filled army ideas and lists to go with them!

The first is my Dark Angels army. I'm now making a point to include Fast Attack and Heavy Support units in my armies for mission purposes.

For the Dark Angels, I used mostly my old minis to make up the army.

Here's the list at 1750 points:

Master of Deathwing 1xxpts
Sword of Silence, SB

10 Deathwing Terminators 515pts
Sgt w PS/ SB, 2 SB/ PF, 2 CML/SB/PF, 5 TH/SS

5 Deathwing Terminators 240pts
Sgt w/ PW+SB, 1 w/Assault Cannon

6 Tactical Marines 104pts
1 Lascannon

6 Tactical Marines 104pts
1 Lascannon

6 Tactical Marines 109pts
1 Flakk Missile Launcher

6 Tactical Marines 109pts
1 Flakk Missile Launcher

Fast Attack
1 Landspeeder Typhoon xxpts
Typhoon Missile Launcher

1 Landspeeder Typhoon xxpts
Typhoon Missile Launcher

1 Landspeeder Typhoon xxpts
Typhoon Missile Launcher

Heavy Support
1 Whirlwind xxpts

1 Whirlwind xxpts

Total: 1726pts

Deathwing has always been a favorite and i really like the battle doctrine where the Dark Angels send in their Elite to cut the heart out of the enemy while the Troops encircle any who might seek to escape.

Also managed to paint up an old Deathwing Terminator Sarge this evening. And here he is, minus some crust and a lick of new paint for 6th edition!
Man was it tough to get painting again! Also the challenge was increased as i was refurbishing an old metal terminator mini that had been encrusted with previous paintjobs.

He was still fun to paint. Brought back alot of old memories.

Themed Tau
My second army is still an untested concept. I still don't even have some of the main minis yet. I have decided to do up a Tau army after seeing the aesthtically awesome looking Riptide Battlesuit.

As such I plan to fill all 3 of my Elite slots with the giant robots.

The theme will be Patlabor. The Riptides will be my Patlabor units. Painted white with black accents. A head swap from some Gundam-ish figs should do the trick.

The troops will be Fire Warriors. For Fast Attack i will take them Pathfinders, as i can always use more Markerlights. I will not be using actual Tau warriors but instead human minis from other ranges to represent the police troop units of Patlabor.

I will top this off with a Hammerhead and 2 Sky Rays for Heavy Support as i have the models.

I hope everyone has had a great week thus far.

Tough times will have its own ending. Hold onto hope, and banish those shadows with the light of tomorrow's dawn ;)
